In February, Samsung launched the new flagship series, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra with new features. On the other side, other companies like OnePlus, Oppo, and Xiaomi are working on developments to offer higher wireless charging rates, such as 50W, charging fully in around 30 minutes. However, the Galaxy S23 series come with 15W charging support for wireless charging, which could be the lowest rating. Here are the details and comparison of Galaxy S23 wireless charging…
Did Samsung drop the wireless charging speed on Galaxy S23?
While Android phone manufacturers are improving the charging rates of their devices constantly, Apple is also improving the iPhone’s charging. For example, Apple improved the charging from 7.5W on the iPhone 8 Plus to 15W on the iPhone 14 Pro. However, there are claims that Samsung dropped its wireless charging rate for the Galaxy S23 series. Let’s check the recent tests about the charging rates…
PhoneArena has tested the wireless charging speeds of Samsung’s flagship phones and Apple’s latest flagship devices. Although the S23 Ultra and the S22 Ultra have the same battery capacity and charging speed, there are differences between the results. While both phones were charged with Samsung’s 15W wireless charger (EP-P2400), S23 Ultra got a bad result compared to S22 Ultra.
According to the list, the S23 Ultra charges fully in 2 hours 37 minutes with 15W wireless charging, while the S22 Ultra charges fully in 1 hour 58 minutes with the same charging. Compared to other models, the slowest device is the Ultra version, even the 14 Pro is faster than the S23 Ultra.
With these results, we can understand that Samsung’s latest flagship, Galaxy S23 Ultra, might have the slowest wireless charging rate among the flagship smartphones. However, there must be reasons for this issue, such as heating, battery life, or others.
